CHAPTER 25

The response to an incident – international conventions
Introduction
This chapter is concerned with laws governing the response to an incident both by the private commercial interests involved, and on the part of public authorities who may intervene to prevent pollution or to control any clean-up operations. In practice there is often a close link between the private and public responses to a casualty, and for this reason they are dealt with side by side in this chapter.
