4.1 Introduction
A typical bunkering operation involves a small ship, often referred to as a bunkering barge, coming alongside a larger vessel and delivering one or more types of marine fuel for use in the vessel’s main engines and generators. Yet under the surface, a teeming wildlife of contractual obligations is active, with Owners, Charterers and bunker suppliers swimming in entirely different directions and looking out for their own interests.
