UK waits on ESMA over retail Contract for Difference rules

The Financial Conduct Authority had planned to proceed with its own rules, as published in last December’s CP16/40 ‘Enhancing conduct of business rules for firms providing contract for difference products to retail clients’. However, it is now waiting to see if deliberations within the European Securities and Markets Authority will lead to the introduction of a set of very similar rules on 3 January 2018 or soon thereafter.
