CHAPTER 14 TOWAGE CONTRACTS
1 INTRODUCTION
Towage is known in shipping parlance as the service provided, usually by special tugs, to assist the propulsion, or to expedite the movement, of another vessel (the tow) which is not in danger. Danger is an element of salvage, as discussed in the previous chapter. Tugs can range from ocean-going ships to coastal or harbour tugs that are designed with special equipment to push or pull the tow.
