1. INTRODUCTION1

This chapter provides a general picture of marine insurance, with particular focus on what is unique to that part of the insurance market. The chapter commences with an introduction to marine insurance, followed by an overview of contemporary hull and cargo policy cover. It then goes on to look at some of the particular forms of insurance available in the marine market, namely General Average and the various forms of insurance provided by P&I Clubs to conclude with a brief overview of letters of undertaking.
