CASE MANAGEMENT
Case management in the Commercial Court generally
The Civil Procedure Rules and the three successive editions of the Commercial Court Guide which followed them brought the concept of case management to the fore. It is no longer for the parties to a commercial action to do as they please: the court exercises control over litigation at an early stage and maintains that control as cases move towards trial. The recent recommendations of the Commercial Court Long Trials Working Party, referred to throughout this book, emphasise the need for early and interventionist case management by the court, particularly in heavy and complex cases.
