A. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY—PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOSS OFLIFE AND PERSONAL INJURY

The adoption of the Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, signed in London on 19 November 1976 (“LLMC Convention”) substantially amended the limitation of liability in Mexico. Before 1994, Mexico followed the system of Fortune de Mer adopted from France and Spain, which applied in Mexico since before our independence from Spain in the Ordenanzas de Bilbao and after independence in the Commercial Code of 1854, 1884 and 1889 and the Navigation and Maritime Code of 1963.
