INTRODUCTION

Finland denounced the LLMC 1976 (Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, 1976) with effect from 13 May 2004. The present rules on limitation of liability for maritime claims entered into force on the same day and they are based on the Protocol of 1996 to amend the LLMC 1976. The rules have been incorporated into the Finnish Maritime Code (FMC) of 1994 (chapter 9).
