17-1 DEATH

Death is normally proved by a certificate issued by a responsible person who has inspected the body of the deceased. If the body cannot be found, the claim must include other evidence of death. For example, in the case of persons lost at sea with the SS Titanic, it was sufficient to produce an affidavit that the insured had been on board at the time of sinking and had not been seen among the survivors.1
